Elizabeth Hughes
Valdivia Lab takes over the world

Elizabeth Hughes, PhD

Postdoctoral Associate

Elizabeth received her PhD from UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she developed a passion for exploring the interactions between microbiota and host, one molecular mechanism at a time. She studied the impact of intestinal inflammation on bacterial metabolism, and the resulting consequences for bacteria and host. Elizabeth is focusing on identifying mechanisms responsible for the gut microbiota’s ability to modulate the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy. Outside of the lab, Elizabeth enjoys playing disc golf with her husband, reading, playing board games, and exploring North Carolina with their new baby.
