Ky Ariano
Graduate Student
Ky grew up in Illinois and earned his BS in Microbiology from the University of
Wisconsin La Crosse. At UWL he worked with Dr. Paul Schweiger to characterize outer membrane proteins in the acetic acid bacteria Gluconobacter oxydans—focusing on the how these proteins shape microbial metabolism and physiology. Ky is currently a PhD student in the Molecular Genetics and Microbiology department, where he interested in characterizing effectors involved in Chlamydia pathogenesis. When not in lab, you can find Ky exploring local coffee shops, reading, and cooking.
